Welcome to my unconventional living room hydroponic kitchen garden, where greenery thrives. Step into my world, where indoor gardening isn’t just a hobby – it’s part of my lifestyle. (If you’re new here, check out my About Me page, to learn more about how I started indoor gardening.)

Our Indoor Hydroponic Vegetable Garden
In the heart of our living space, amidst living and lounging, we have two second-hand Lettuce Grow Indoor Hydroponic Farmstands. I purchased both through Facebook Marketplace over the span of 18 months. Each Farmstand has it’s own rolling dolly and four LED grow lights. The lights are a MUST if you want to grow indoors, sunlight from the windows is not enough.
Our hydroponic garden is active year-round. Which, is beneficial for us, as we live in the mountains of Colorado, where it’s impossible to grow veggies year round.

What’s in My Indoor Kitchen Garden
Currently, i’m growing a variety of greens, herbs, and even a few flowering plants. Since starting our indoor hydroponic garden in 2021, we’ve stopped purchasing greens and herbs at our local grocery. It took a bit of time to work through the details but, it’s been so fun for our family to know we are providing our own nutritious greens and pretty cool to walk into the living room to harvest our dinner.

Creating Your At-Home Indoor Hydroponic Setup

My Indoor Hydroponic Garden: A Practical Guide will give you a few things to consider before getting started.
First, consider your space. While a living room might seem unconventional, it offers ample light and space for our indoor garden to thrive. Acquiring second-hand equipment, like we did, can be more cost-effective for a beginner and environmentally friendly.
Next, familiarize yourself with hydroponic basics. From nutrient solutions to grow lights, understanding the essentials will set you up for success. Online resources and community forums are invaluable tools for beginners. Don’t worry, I’ll walk you through it!
When it comes to maintenance, consistency is key. Monitoring water levels, pH, and nutrient concentrations ensures optimal plant health. This should be done weekly and takes no time at all! Embrace the learning curve, and don’t hesitate to experiment with different plant varieties and growing techniques. I’ve made lots of mistakes along the way and will share my journey so you can’t avoid some i’ve already made!
